[A bathroom mirror comes slightly into focus, a faint reflection visible. Once the steam clears, it becomes clear it's Marti, though she's full dressed and seems to only be about to brush her teeth when she notices.]

[Darkness. In community time, it seems like only a few seconds but when it turns back on, Marti is on the couch, books in her lap. Something causes her to look up. Immediately, the books drop as she moves to turn it off. ]

I'm losing to a computer. Great, just the boost I need.

[Black again. Next time, seconds later again, she appears, this time standing in front of it.]

Okay, so, I'm being stalked by a pushy computer who wants to play therapist. So, here's for the sharing and caring...

I have the cheerleader audition today. It's normal to be nervous, right? Right. People are nervous. [She begins to pace.] Especially when something as big as a scholarship is on the line. By the way, thanks again Wanda.

[A deep breath and then she stops.] So, I shared. Your turn. Any tips for a girl who's about to try out for the cheerleading for the first time at a college level?

Alcohol's not an option.

Of corpse! Well, it's still my first year, but Cleo's a really intense captain.

Show me some moves? I know it's a lot to ask, but I have a lot ridding on this.

[fearleads]

Sure! I have a couple things the community's already posted, anyway.

*Frankie sends links to videos of her and her fellow cheerleaders -- all of whom are just as vaguely nonhuman as she is; the captain's a mummy and there's a werewolf and a pink-skinned vampire -- doing splits, flips, pyramids, etc.*

...What kind of school do you go to, again?

[fearleads]

It's an unsegregated school, so it's for all monsters and not just one race! Well, I guess there still aren't any humans, but I think they'd be allowed if any wanted to come.

[trustmybase]

Monsters. I remember when me thinking about the cheerleading team was the weirdest thing I've seen.

So, the jumps...I'm not sure I can do. I have a background in gymnastics so the flips I can handle.

[fearleads]

What are you used to doing?

[trustmybase]

Tumbles, flips. Besides the gymnastics, I do some street dancing.

[fearleads]

Don't worry, ghoul! We do lots of that stuff in fearleading. Try looking up some routines that have won awards recently!

[trustmybase]

No time. I have to leave for the audition in minutes.

I did rent "Bring it on."

[fearleads]

Can you watch what the ghouls before you do?

[trustmybase]

I guess they'll show us some moves and have us copy? I don' know, it's been a while since I had to try out for anything.

[fearleads]

That was what we did when I tried out for fearleading!

[trustmybase]

Was the competition stiff?

[She tried.]

[fearleads]

Totally. Maybe that's just because Cleo's a perfectionist. She's a little wrapped up in herself, but she tries her beast for us.

[trustmybase]

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about.

[fearleads]

Have you tried any cheers?

[trustmybase]

A little.

I rented a couple of movies and tried some of the moves.

I didn't have a lot of time.

No preparation, huh?

[trustmybase]

No time. I never, never, thought I would be trying out for this team.

[fearleads]

This scholarship forced your hand, huh? *She says as she pulls out a needle and thread and stitches one of her hands back on as it's come loose.*
