[A bathroom mirror comes slightly into focus, a faint reflection visible. Once the steam clears, it becomes clear it's Marti, though she's full dressed and seems to only be about to brush her teeth when she notices.]

[Darkness. In community time, it seems like only a few seconds but when it turns back on, Marti is on the couch, books in her lap. Something causes her to look up. Immediately, the books drop as she moves to turn it off. ]

I'm losing to a computer. Great, just the boost I need.

[Black again. Next time, seconds later again, she appears, this time standing in front of it.]

Okay, so, I'm being stalked by a pushy computer who wants to play therapist. So, here's for the sharing and caring...

I have the cheerleader audition today. It's normal to be nervous, right? Right. People are nervous. [She begins to pace.] Especially when something as big as a scholarship is on the line. By the way, thanks again Wanda.

[A deep breath and then she stops.] So, I shared. Your turn. Any tips for a girl who's about to try out for the cheerleading for the first time at a college level?

Alcohol's not an option.

That..uh, was entirely a joke. [Marti, get it together. All you need is people thinking you do drugs, now.]

[He's going to blink a few times, before laughing it off.]

If you said so, then I could totally send you some! [He's obviously joking as well.] Nah, I'll probably send you some treats or something.

You know, treats are a good way to get over bad news, too. Ever wonder why girls eat so much ice cream after a break up?

Ah, heard that way too many times before. [He'll grin at it.]

Ah, is that why? I didn't know that girls used food to suppress their sadness...ah, maybe I'll send you some ice cream too, just for fun!

It's pretty much a requirement to being a female. [Her voice is light enough that it might be a joke.]

But you have a deal. If I make it in, I'll work off the ice cream, anyway.

A requirement, huh? Man, you girls...I may never understand. [He's not even sure if that comes out a joke himself.]

Well, great! Maybe a little party too, you know, just for celebrations sake.

Sure, we'll celebrate. Or, uh, cheer me up.

Well, cheering up would be part of it too. With ice cream. And possibly drugs.

So, what kind of drugs are we talking about here? Medicine, or something far more devious?

The recreational ones that we're not really serious about.

The baseball and the cheerleader. That may have to be my backup plan so I'm not giving up on the comedy duo.

Hm...well, what other back up, or foreground, plans do you have?

...None. This all hit pretty fast, you know. One day I'm in school, the next I find out Wanda's been hiding the fact my scholarship was cancelled. I've looked into some other ones but it's too late in the year and I'm out of luck.

...ow, ok, now it doesn't seem like luck is on your side right now. Hm... [He began to think a bit...] Ah, man, I wish I knew what to say to that, but...ehe, looks like this cheerleading thing is all you have, huh?
