[text; attempted (and utterly failed) anon]
There is a matter which I have found myself considering more and more often in recent days, though I can not say I know what precisely began such contemplation. The community's nature in particular complicates the idea itself, which does not help matters if one were to try coming to a conclusion of some kind. What it can be narrowed down to at its core is, I think, a mere question of five words.
Do you believe in fate?

Then we are toys then. An unpleasant thought.

If such things do come with prices, it should seek at consent first.

Unfortunately I've long given up on believing the world in general has a sense of justice to it.

Justice is purely a human construct. It is as fractured and unpredictable as we are.

We seem to have gone a little off topic.

Likewise, and accepted.
The subject of fate and its relation to this Community.

I do not understand why, of countless iterations of myself in as many worlds, I specifically was given the opportunity to survive. Was it deemed by some force as 'deserved' in some way? Or is it all a matter of randomized chance beyond comprehension?
Was my 'fate' by default the end which I avoided and another in a different world did not? Or am I simply dwelling on questions with no answer?

Most likely the latter, I'm sorry to say. Were it any other iteration, would you not ask the same thing?
[this is a little awkward but-]
Do you see yourself as undeserving?
no subject
[Pause.]
Absolutely. Others refuse to believe this second chance was something undeserved, but they are deluding themselves. Everyone I know refuses to see me for the coward that I am.
