Hey.. Let's say you have a rowdy ghost or spirit or demon or something like that bothering people for no good reason. What would you do to stop it?

Nah, I'm just taking it way too personally. [ She's already taking out some pocky and shoving a stick into the corner of her mouth, as if that calms down.. ] Gotta step back a little.

...I know Takashi's not like that. [She knows that she can't just blame everything on this kid.]

.. Huh? Know that Natsume's not.. what? Not like you?

[ You don't have to tell her, granny. Natsume's way too busy loving everyone ever to hate people. ]

Something like that. He doesn't hold grudges. He wouldn't turn away a family member.

'course I know he's not like that too. [ Sure, they might not have told each other everything yet, but.. she's sure of this, at least. No matter what, in the end Natsume's way too nice for his own good. ] He's gonna get himself into major trouble with that someday, like we said before.

The kid's got the patience of a saint.

[ .. Yeah. Isn't that exactly what she likes about Natsume? He's kind, much more so than her - unlike her, he isn't a bad person in the slightest. And he's happy so easily too that it just makes her happy as well..

She tries to swallow the mushy feelings down and work up the energy to display her usual grin. ]

What's that, granny? Where's those weird genes coming from when he sure doesn't have it from you?

He fell on his head when he was a kid. That's all.

I didn't know falling on their head actually made people a better person.

You have to admit he has a few screws loose.

.. Dunno. [ There's a scoff, but it's not really at Natsume. If anything, it's almost borderline self-depreciating. ] I mean, a lot of people are really weird. He's pretty normal compared to some of 'em.

You think so? [It's Reiko's turn to laugh. She's a person who's quick to laugh so it's not that out of the ordinary for her.] Most humans don't care about each other that much, if they do something wrong they're quick to point it out. It's just their nature. Sure, I'm weird but Takashi... He's different than other humans.

Well, in that sense.. that's just a good thing. That he's not like most people in that sense, I mean. [ Otherwise she never would have liked him this much to begin with, honestly. ]

Otherwise he'd just be a pain. I don't really care for those kinda people.

I don't really understand him but... well. He's family.

It's not that difficult to get him, really. Just gotta spend some time with him. Then ya start to realise.

I'm beginning to figure that out.
