[The bar is located within walking distance of campus and may or may not be known for a flagrant failure to check IDs. If DwU is not in an American legal setting and drinking is a-go at 18 instead of 21, maybe that's not such a big deal, besides for a few younger freshmen and the occasional child genius.

Frequently open later than liquor sales ordinances technically allow, there are posted hours, but if anybody starts leaving around those times, it's not by any ushering of the staff. Or at least not by any ushering of the staff that the owner endorses.]

Well... I was going to go to the coffee shop initially. I changed my mind because it looked interesting here. [Well, talking seems to be helping with the nervousness, at least.]

Nnn... The fundamental difference between a coffee shop and a bar's what they serve, isn't it? If you really wanna appreciate the difference, you should drink somethin' with a little more kick than coffee, while you're here. [Even with someone apparently trying to liquor her up within less than two minutes of talking to her?]

[She seems to mull it over.] Maybe in a little bit. I don't think I'm quite ready for that yet. I'm still trying to get my bearings here.

...And for your information, I drink tea, not coffee. Old habit, I guess.

I hear tea's better for you, anyway. Still, if you're here for the more interesting atmosphere... you're pretty adventuresome for a studious, good kid type, ain'tcha?

I like that kinda balance.

What you see isn't always what you get. Even I want to kick back and relax sometimes. Whether it's in the coffee shop, or the bar just down the street from the dorms, or the mall, or even somewhere on the campus... I'd like to let go, for just a little while.

Not a one-scene kinda girl. Lookin' to travel when you're outtah school?

I might, honestly. Staying near the people that know you is all well and good, but... I want something new. I want to change and becoming something more. I'm not entirely sure how I'll do it, but... it's a thought for the future.

...Of course, that's a few years away still.

With the internet, you're never really leavin' anyone you go away from anyway. If you go from place to place to place, you can change every single place you go and be a different kinda person. You can be a party girl in Italy, a jewel thief in France, a Serbische in Germany...

[sunbloom]

That's true... and it might be kinda fun to change all the time.

...What was that last one, though?

Some kinda German mafia thing. But being a mobster in Italy'd be too predictable, they people at the airports almost expect you to be one, comin' out of there. When you go to another country pretending to be a writer, you'll be inspired by yer Serbische experiences like they're the Italian mob! Those stories are popular!

What kind of image of me do you have, exactly? I'm just a schoolgirl with a talent for martial arts, no vision for the future, and a lot of free time on her hands.

I can see why you'd need a drink for this.

[material_guy]

That's not exactly a flattering description. You're supposed to sell yourself more on a date. Why don't you put a little spin on it: you're a free spirited gal with a good right hook who'll have a degree in a few years and a wide open future!

[sunbloom]

That does sound more appealing... I like that. I'll have to remember that one.

So, what's your story? I feel like I've been talking about myself for a while now.

[material_guy]

Heee... [It almost sounds like he'd been waiting for her to ask, as if he's going to have a great line with which to sell himself, only to reply simply, with an overly wide, toothy grin, just in case that creep feeling started to wane at any point:] I'm a dirty old man who owns a bar.

[sunbloom]

[Silence, and a brief shiver before she can suppress it. Then:]

Oh. Well... that explains a lot. If that's the case, you won't mind me stepping away for a drink and coming back in a second?

[material_guy]

Oi, oi. It's a problem if you take it seriously... But, a sale's a sale. Won't argue with that.

[sunbloom]

Well, you shouldn't have said it if you didn't mean it. It just creates a bad image. But anyway, be right back~

[She's gone for a minute or so; the girl returns with a glass of wine. Greed will recognize it as one of the slightly-less-cheap options as Itsuki sips.]

Okay, better. But yeah, be serious about this. I've laid myself bare, you can do the same, right?

[material_guy]

[He's genuinely surprised she returned at all, having expected it to be a line she was using to gracefully attempt to leave. He looks impressed when she returns, possibly at her drink choice--people don't tend to pick something outside the well wines unless they've developed a preference for a specific call drink--and possibly at the fact that she returned at all. He shifts in his seat as if indeed suddenly taking it a little more seriously now that she's said something.]

Well, it wasn't a lie or anything. I do got a bar, dirty thoughts, and at least compared to the college crowd I'm on the old side. But I'm still young enough to have bigger plans. Cash is the plan I'm working on, now. Any other dream needs venture capital, so it's a good starting place. Kinda like kids go to college without majors 'n figure out what they wanna do from there 'cause it's the paper that gets ya somewhere when you're done.... This talkin' about yourself off the cuff stuff is kinda weird, ain't it?

[sunbloom]

A little. It's hard to talk about yourself sometimes, especially if you've got skeletons in your closet, or things you don't like remembering. [The ghost of a sad smile crosses her face before it sets in a more neutral look.] But it gets easier.

[She looks thoughtful.] Capital's a good start to get you to, well, anything else. And a bar within walking distance of a college is always a good source of revenue. What's on the lineup for the future?

[material_guy]

[That smile earns a conspicuous brow raise. As if not listening to her follow up at first, he stares for a few more seconds, then blinks away his curiosity for the time being, giving a belated answer.] I was thinking world domination. Or a jet.

[sunbloom]

[The edge of her grin twitches up a bit; she noticed.]

Aren't those such bland options, though? Why run the world? It's so boring. Everything at your command... there's nothing to work for. You just sit back and wait for everything to happen. It's the same with a jet. When you can go anywhere at the drop of a hat, travel loses its shine.

Be creative. Start with something smaller, or maybe weirder.

[material_guy]

You. You're kinda ambitious too, ain't you? Definitely can't just call you undecided about your future, if you think like that.

But I'm a little more greedy than even that. The world won't be enough.

[sunbloom]

Oh, I've got big dreams. I just don't know what to actually do. It'll come in time, I'm sure.

Well, that's nice to know. The local bar is run by someone whose ambition can't be contained by our puny planet. What's next, the stars in the sky?

[Sip. Now that she's a little more relaxed, she looks surprisingly refined, until she opens her mouth.]

[material_guy]

You're making fun of me, now...

[sunbloom]

Hey, you said it. If the world isn't enough for you, what's next? A lunar empire? Space itself?

[She pauses a moment, a twinkle in her eye.] Or are you looking for something a little more arcane? Maybe someone to spend the days with and join you atop society? Is that why you organized this?

[Her tone's playful; she isn't expecting this to actually be true, but she's on a roll.]
