you know what's even cuter? the King of Knights dressed in a near-identical outfit - or at the very least, the hat and cape - right next to her.

the two seem to be hiding behind a wall; it's not clear what they're saying to each other, but Saber seems rather put out by the clothing arrangements, and the little girl seems to be insisting that they are completely necessary. after a moment, Saber seems to (reluctantly) agree. a few moments more of Saber talking, and Nanako nods enthusiastically before darting off over to the other end of the wall, light-up toy held out in front of her.

Saber is left alone to peer out intently around the corner of the wall, eyes narrowed in the manner of someone deliberately watching something in particular.

after a few minutes of this, she suddenly moves back from the wall and dives into the nearest bush without warning.

[ mysterious and troubling questions indeed! Arturia has certainly been just as worried as Nanako. her new Master has always been a little... well, eccentric, but this recent bout of erratic behaviour is unusual even for him. honestly, she's worried that he may have involved himself in some trouble, given how he has not said a word to any of them about his activities.

... well, apart from the business with the fox. but Saber seemed to be the only one who was taking that seriously.

in any case, her reservations about the "Magical Detective Loveline" costumes aside, she's been all too happy to aid in Nanako's efforts. when she judges it to be safe, she creeps out of the bush, absently picking a stray twig out of her hair, and follows her Master along the side of the river, making use of the natural cover where she can. ]

[After Dojima and Adachi had laughed off his honest admission of 'a fox told me to get a part-time job', Narukami had opted to keep his activities a little more to himself. Better that than keep telling outlandish lies like he'd done to explain Saber as well as Roxy's four-eyed cat.]

[Narukami reached his destination, populated by a group of small children and a few other adults only slightly older than Narukami himself. Saber's admittedly eccentric Master immediately put on an apron and got to work; apparently he'd taken a job at a daycare center, and did it surprisingly well.]

[ when they got to their apparent destination, Saber could not help but wonder to herself, especially after seeing the apron. everything became clear when the children arrived, but she still couldn't help watching in something close to amazement. was this truly the reason for Yu's strange behaviour? nothing more or less than a part-time job working with children?

well, she couldn't fathom why her Master had felt the need to keep this such a secret, but as she watched him work with the children, her expression softened. he did seem to be good with them. it was heartening to her; even removed as she was from either of her former lives, her own world, even, she still thought like a king, and children were the future of any country. it was touching, somehow, to see how well he cared for them.

remembering that she was supposed to be avoiding detection started her out of her reverie, and she hastily concealed herself close to an ice cream stand that was far enough away to avoid suspicion, but close enough that she would be able to see Yu when he left. ]

[ Saber is only alerted to the fact that the community has caught her making a fool of herself by the sudden loud beeping of her mobile phone - a relatively recent acquisition and a necessity when posing as a high school student in Inaba - alerting her to a new message. the phone isn't an item she's used before now, but if nothing else, it is something that she's found useful for keeping track of Yu and his friends. she starts at the sound and hastily moves to mute it and answer.
