Y'know, I'm pretty well-versed when it comes to magic items, but I've never seen anything like this before. A journal that talks back? Definitely a new one! I kinda wish I'd thought of it myself, but oh well. The ducks are a nice touch!

I wonder how this happened to my journal, though...

Maybe one of the other mages used it for an experiment and then left it here. People leave important stuff lying around all the time.

Or maybe... I actually found a cursed item and by opening and reading it, I just doomed myself to a really horrible death! [He sounds pretty casual about that possibility and, if anything, his smile actually brightens a little.] That'd be something!

...

Or maybe it was just a fluke earlier and I'm sitting here talking to myself like a crazy person. It wouldn't be the first time, ha ha!

That depends on what you want to know. It can practically do anything, so if I'm going to have to sum it all up then we're going to be here for hours. [ And that's not something she feels like doing. ]

Let's just say the witches in my world love coming up with creative ways to kill people.

Hm, do they now? That's funny, I spend a lot of my time doing the same! [He's... very casual about admitting that, huh...]

.. Is that so. [ It's why she replies with the flattest tone. Great. ] Sure does sound "fun".

It is! Well, it's kinda my job, so I have to do it anyway, but it's fun too!

I didn't know killing people was actually a job for witch-types. I was under the impression that they didn't really need money with their kind of life.

[ Then again, Henry isn't quite as supernatural as the one she knows, but it's not like she knows that yet. ]

I don't know about the people in your world, but in mine, mages need jobs just like anyone else. We still need to eat, after all, ha ha!

For example, I myself am in the army! A lot of dark mages are.

[entreats]

.. Ah. [ It takes a moment, but with a very dry breath she answers that. It makes sense, after all. Death and destruction.. the place you would find that the most easily is during war. In the army. So of course they would be there of all places. ] The easiest way to get to kill a lot of people and you're completely allowed to get away with it, huh?

Pretty much, yeah! I love fighting people and I really love war, so it only made sense to join the army, ha ha!

Though lately things have been pretty boring, with no big conflicts going on. I might end up dying of boredom before anything else gets me at this rate!

[entreats]

Normally I'd say I have a few people I'd like to be rid of, but I guess you're probably not into going on suicide missions.

[ Even if he is sort.. of.. a witch-like thing too, with how his magic is different she figures he probably won't stand much of a chance against her world's witches. ]

Well, I'm all for a challenge, but suicide missions are generally pretty painful! And I don't like pain, so I'm going to have to pass. Maybe someday though, ha ha!

What kind of people do you want gone, though? You've made me all curious!

[entreats]

[ How can someone be so cheerful about pain.. or, well, laughing in the context or it, at least. Although Ange knows she's really deadpan about that sort of stuff too, so maybe that's just his own weird way of coping?

.. That, or he's really just insane after all. ]

The people who killed my family, of course. I mean, they're generally annoying too, but that's the main reason.

Hm, so revenge, huh? Nya ha ha, I know all about that! Well hey, if I figure out a way I could beat them, I'm fine with helping out! Maybe I can figure out some kind of curse to take them out!

[entreats]

Well, even if you use magic, you've got to be the friendliest magic user I've ever seen. [ Not counting Maria, but she's.. sort of dead either way.. ]

I think it'll be fine as long as they shut up for a while. But if they start threatening Battler onii-chan again or whatever, I might ask for your help if you're not opposed to it.
