Y'know, I'm pretty well-versed when it comes to magic items, but I've never seen anything like this before. A journal that talks back? Definitely a new one! I kinda wish I'd thought of it myself, but oh well. The ducks are a nice touch!

I wonder how this happened to my journal, though...

Maybe one of the other mages used it for an experiment and then left it here. People leave important stuff lying around all the time.

Or maybe... I actually found a cursed item and by opening and reading it, I just doomed myself to a really horrible death! [He sounds pretty casual about that possibility and, if anything, his smile actually brightens a little.] That'd be something!

...

Or maybe it was just a fluke earlier and I'm sitting here talking to myself like a crazy person. It wouldn't be the first time, ha ha!

Well, I wouldn't really call myself a witch, but I guess that's close enough! I'm a dark mage, meaning I specialize in dark magic and curses!

If you're calling it dark magic, then you're not the kind I'm wary of. [ Saying it surprisingly calmly. Like this is totally normal and like she - in fact - really isn't afraid. Ange's pretty reckless and fearless on top of it. ]

Which means you're okay enough. Well, as long as you aren't your own brand of annoying, I guess.

That'd be really cool! But only if it's a good death, otherwise it's just disappointing. Something bloody and gruesome, not boring, like... I don't know, just falling over or something!

I don't think you've doomed yourself. Not to a horrible death, anyway, just to being followed around by a sort of sentient social community. You were apparently interesting enough to get the community's attention.

Aw, too bad, I was getting kinda excited for a minute! I guess this is still pretty neat, though!

And I guess I'll take that as a compliment, ha ha. I don't think I'm that interesting, but who am I to argue with this thing?

Well, the community's easily entertained. It's also easily bored, which explains why it's roped so many people in.

And it's not an exciting death or anything, but the viruses tend to make life... interesting. Think of them sort of like curses - every so often the community will do something like make people unable to lie, or swap them between bodies, or give them wings. Generally they last a few days.

Yeah, that's right, I am!

I'm a dark mage, meaning I can use both elemental and dark magic tomes. I also specialize in curses of all kinds! I'm pretty good at it too, if I do say so myself!
