Intro - What better time than during a grabbag!

So, this thing seems unhackable, which is pretty impressive because nothing's unhackable. As far as I can tell, there's nothing to hack, which makes even less sense. If we're all connected, there should be a server.

[The girl - woman, early twenties it seems - is sitting cross legged on the bed of a small room, staring at the laptop.]

I'm wondering if this is some kind of alien technology. I took a look around, saw some posts and most of it... sometimes, crazy isn't a strong enough word. So, I could be talking to a lot of psychos here but help me out. Different worlds? Universes? Something out of a sci-fi Harry Potter Lord of the Rings?

Assuming nothing's changed since I left the first time, you're on an interdimensional community that functions kind of like a bunch of interconnected journals. I don't know anything about where it came from, what it is, or how it works. Not for lack of trying.

And I like to think I'm not psychotic. Just tired.

Yeah, I read the between the lines version. I've seen enough social media sites in my life to know how they work, but it's like a phantom circuit here. We're connected but I can't find out how or even make it work when anybody is nearby. It's all kinds of crazy.

Sometimes tired and psychotic go together. Comfortable pajamas, hot milk, soft bed. Doctor's orders.

We didn't really develop a concept of networked blastia before we blew them all to hell, so I got maybe half that. But what I do know is definitely crazy.

Setting aside that I don't know you're a doctor for that to work, I can't actually sleep. I think it's... something the community is causing.

Since I have no clue what blastia is supposed to be, makes us even.

What gave that away? Lack of lab coat? So, maybe I have more experience than I have schooling but I've been there. What makes you think a network could cause you to not sleep?

It's... not really worth explaining. Magitechnology, is the important part. As part of saving the world from a calamity, we had to sacrifice every single blastia on the planet. But even when we had them, we couldn't link them together - similar changes to the same kind of blastia had to be made in person at each one.

I know the feeling with experience, at least. The community... can express things back on us. Sometimes it messes with our heads, or our hearts, or our bodies, or our worlds. There was the time I thought I killed my best friend, the time I struck myself with divine lightning... they don't tend to end well. I'm pretty well convinced this is the community - I've tried everything else.

Magitechnology? Breaking it down, that's magic technology, right? Anything I can see?

...Thought you killed your best friend? How did they manage that? And what's the difference between divine lightning and the boring stuff that lights up the sky?

That's right, but no - I just said I had to blow everything up. Everything. We're having to redesign our magic, and some of our technology, from the ground up.

Although... [She frowns when she's reminded of watching Estelle die right in front of her. It feels like so long ago...] The community fabricated a situation where I was in a city our journey hadn't reached yet, and there... was an accident. I made a mistake reprogramming something, and when it exploded... she was too close to it. She didn't have a chance.

And then everything went back to normal, and we got to that city for real a few days later. I did everything I could short of tying her down to make sure she didn't get hurt. Which was... for the better, since things got crazy right after the blastia exploded anyway, but that's beside the point.

Anyway, the point is that it can get in your head and make you see things that aren't there. And it can reach into your future and your past.

You probably have a USB stick, flash drive, SD card, something like that. Not the same thing but pretty handy if you're mobile.

You know, you look pretty young to not know the whole computer storage thing. No college student but definitely not pushing at retirement homes.
